IOP Business + Innovation Awards 2017

MP Alok Sharma and the Institute of Physics invited EATEC Dynamics and Chris Higham to attend the IOP Business and Innovation Awards 2017.  The prestigious event was held at the Palace of Westminster.  Awards acknowledged the winners’ novel physics based solutions and contribution to the UK economy.

Of special interest was the innovative use, by one award winner, of seismic airguns (causing controlled underwater shock waves) to test ship hulls and components against the potential of shock failure from an underwater explosion.

NAFEMS Talk

Brian Jarvis is to present at the NAFEMS’ Dynamics of Joints workshop later this month. Brian will be speaking on how damping can be included in current simulation codes. The event will be hosted at The Defence Academy of the UK, March 29th, and is open to members and non-members of NAFEMS. More details can be found at: www.nafems.org/events/

Party Walls Talk

Eatec Dynamics has been invited to talk to the North London Forum of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors (FPWS) on March 27th. The talk is an overview of noise and vibration topics, and how these related energy propagation processes can be important for dwellings and properties, especially in areas surrounding disturbance, damage and comfort levels. For detail about the FPWS, see https://fpws.org.uk/
